Drag queens are often striking figures. Many enjoy the spotlight, and they are invariably fascinating people with more charisma and integrity than many others. Not every drag queen is trans; drag offers a way to live out fantasies, wishes and identities. It is an art form, an escape from everyday life and a playful challenge to gender identities and outdated norms. Drag is often extravagant and always impressive, while few people recognise the depth, and sometimes the risk, behind this way of life. Anyone who embraces that reality and finds pure joy in the art form may appreciate our "Goodbye Queen!" farewell. We can arrange a large event, perhaps even one open to the public, such as a Kiki Ball or a major drag variety show in their honour. For a smaller gathering, we can exhibit their costumes and most memorable looks. We can also create a memorial float for the next Christopher Street Day or another Pride event, where family and friends can ride together and celebrate the life of this remarkable person. If you wish, we can collect donations for the queer community and pass them to a chosen organisation, whether elsewhere in the world or closer to home. The choice is yours.
