Schützenfest funeral ceremony

A farewell with a bang

About this experience

A farewell with a bang

Across many parts of Germany, the Schützenfest and its shooting clubs remain a living tradition. The first shooting clubs emerged as early as the 15th century and originally served as a form of citizens’ militia. Community is always at the heart of these clubs and their festivals. Someone who lived by this principle and loved parades, uniforms, processions and the sound of marching bands can now be given a farewell in the same spirit through our "Schützenfest funeral ceremony". We might arrange a funeral service during the world’s largest Schützenfest in Hanover or amid the tradition-rich celebrations in Neuss. If wished, we can of course create a smaller dedicated Schützenfest for the person who has died. Alongside familiar ceremonial elements, it could include characteristic competitions such as ring jousting, bird shooting, target shooting or archery. The person is remembered through their great passion and, for one last full day, honoured as the Schützenkönig or Schützenkönigin. We also arrange a suitable venue and take care of legal matters, invitations, the running order and the other practical details.
