About this experience

Surfer ceremony

The perfect wave, the perfect farewell. Surfers around the world have their own funeral culture. Their funeral ceremonies are often regarded not merely as an addition to a funeral service, but as a complete way of saying goodbye in the spirit of the person who has died. Some ceremonies are even repeated every year. We can arrange the perfect paddle-out ceremony on the open sea, providing family and friends with surfboards and flower garlands, as well as an urn that is, of course, waterproof (or a biodegradable water urn on request). We find a suitable facilitator, who invites willing friends and family members in turn to say something about the person who has died. This part of the ceremony is especially moving and emotional, making it unforgettable. For family members who cannot or do not want to surf, we offer a dignified alternative by boat so that they too can take part in this beautiful ritual. If you wish, we are also happy to find a suitable surf spot and arrange travel, accommodation and catering on site. Hang loose!
