The office goodbye

"They worked so hard for this office", or perhaps: "It all began in this little office". Professional success is often described in words like these. This is not simply about defining someone by status, but about appreciating the path they took to reach it, which was not always easy. Many people worked their way from the bottom to the top and were especially proud during their lifetime of an achievement that could be measured in an office or payslip. A single office can tell a story of blood, sweat and tears, perseverance and well-earned respect. We give mourners the option of holding the gathering in that very office. Employees and colleagues can speak and reveal a new side of the person who has died. Alternatively, we can recreate the office as part of another funeral venue and decorate it with personal mementoes and signs of the person’s achievements. Whether they were a caretaker, head of a school or clinic, a lawyer or the CEO of a growing empire, it is not the job title alone that matters here, but the ambition that accompanied them on their way and helped make them who they were.
